Witham to Maldon – Blackwater Rail Trail (Booking Required)
The Blackwater Rail Trail is a linear wildlife-rich trail comprising a range of habitats of around 8 miles length following the former Witham to Maldon Railway Line with a small gap at Wickham Bishops. The line was subject to the cuts recommended in the now infamous Beeching Report of the 1960’s and the walk picks up what is left of this.
The route passes through the village of Langford and includes views of the River Blackwater and a riverside section along the River Chelmer into Maldon. The walk then finishes at the disused station of Maldon East and Heybridge.
Please bring food for a lunch stop. There will be an optional pub visit (s) at the end.
Numbers are limited and must be prebooked directly with the walk leader.
